How Does the System Work?

The basic sequence of asking a question is very simple.
  1. The meeting presenter calls out for the question to be displayed. (The questions are formatted to allow picking one answer, such as multiple choice, true/false, yes/no, etc.)

  2. The question appears on the display screen for the audience to see. The presenter then reads through the question, filling time and ensuring that everyone understands the content.
    Sample Voting Sequence
  3. At this point, the audience begins answering the question by using their keypads. Each person presses the button that corresponds to his or her answer choice. An optional countdown clock is displayed to show how much time is left for voting.

  4. When the answers have all been collected, the screen changes to show the results, usually in the form of a bar graph, with the question superimposed on the same screen.

  5. The presenter makes any comments he or she feels necessary, then continues by calling out for the next question.
The whole sequence takes an average of about 30-40 seconds per question, depending on how much discussion is desired between questions. However, as with all aspects of our services, it is entirely up to the presenter to control exactly how the sequence should progress.

At any time, the presenter can make changes to the list of questions, or call out an impromptu question right from the stage. He or she can also choose to cross-reference the results with other collected demographics, answering questions such as "How did the women in the audience answer this question?" or "What percentage of the management team felt that Cutting Costs was the most important answer?"

With everyone in the room answering in unison, the meeting can progress through issues at a very controlled pace, with the presenter continually reacting to the feedback provided by the audience. It is the most powerful way to know exactly what the audience is thinking.

Our
Services

  RSVP - Our Standard Service

RSVP is a wireless keypad system that allows audience members to answer questions during a meeting by pressing the button that corresponds to their answer choice. A computer collects the answers for the entire audience. Then, the results are displayed, printed and/or copied to data files.

It is the most popular service and is a very simple, yet powerful, system that can be used in virtually any meeting format regardless of size and location.

RSVP Net - Enhanced Features Service

RSVP Net is an enhanced version of RSVP, supporting more interactivity features than the main system.

It supports a login feature that enables audience members to enter a personal PIN number. This is used to track each person's response to his or her keypad.

There is also a small microphone built into the keypad to allow the person to ask questions or give verbal feedback to the presenter. This feature can be accompanied by our AutoCam system, which uses robotic video cameras to view the audience members as they are speaking.

Finally, Net takes its name from the most powerful feature, networking multiple locations together for distance learning, satellite meetings and simulcast presentations.

  Accutrak - Electronic Clipboard Service

Accutrak is a wireless keypad system that gives you the freedom to move around the room, answering questions at your own pace. Think of it as an electronic clipboard, whose answers are stored in the keypad's memory to be downloaded at a later time.

This is best used for testing, training and tradeshow applications where the audience is not together watching one presentation, but walking around on their own responding to questions as they go.

  The Wireless Advantage

All of our audience response systems are wireless. The benefits of a wireless setup cannot be understated. And we should know the advantages, having started out using wired systems only to discover their limitations the hard way.

APPLICATION DESCRIPTION BENEFIT
Change Common Perceptions If your presentation deals with new findings, ask the audience questions that will compare their current impressions to the new information from the most recent studies. Offers an effective technique to change outdated ways of thinking and open minds to new concepts.
Pre-Test for Knowledge Level Before you begin your presentation, ask the audience questions that pertain to key points. When you see the results, you will have a base line of their understanding of your subject. Increases the attention of your audience and the effectiveness of your meeting by not talking above or below them.
Predict Trends If your audience consists of industry experts, use the system to ask them to predict what the trend in the industry will be over the next few years. Stimulates discussion and identifies the changes taking place in your industry.
Ask Now, Reveal Later Ask your audience several questions, but don't show the results after each question. The responses are stored in the Meridia computer until you ask for them. This allows you to build your presentation around revealing their results to make your point. Creates drama and adds impact to your presentation.
APPLICATION DESCRIPTION BENEFIT
Panel Discussion If you are planning a panel discussion, make sure each panel member gets a Meridia keypad in addition to the audience members. Have the moderator ask a question to the entire room. Using our cross-tabulation function, show the response of the entire group, then show how the panel responded, allowing for a comparison between the two groups. Or, have each panel member present his or her questions to the audience. Stimulates discussion and introduces new ideas.
Confirm Information Retention As you proceed through your presentation, pause and ask the audience a question that pertains to the information you have just covered. When the audience results are displayed on the screen, you will be able to see immediately if they have understood your message and you can act accordingly. In other words, did you change their opinions?
Interactive Debate Two or more speakers present opposing sides of an issue to the audience. After each point is debated, ask the audience who argument was more convincing. Ask the audience to decide which side of the issue they agree with and reach consensus. Adds an interactive element to the debate. Provides instant feedback and on the spot consensus of the majority.
APPLICATION DESCRIPTION BENEFIT
Impromptu Questions Questions can be presented by the audience or speaker "on the fly." The Meridia specialist can enter new questions into the presentation as you go. Simply call out the question from the stage and the operator will present it to the audience for them to answer. Creates the ability to address questions that were not thought of ahead of time or perhaps were brought into play because of information revealed during previous presentations.
Audience Questions During your meeting, members of the audience may want to address an issue to the entire group. To do this, questions can be collected on cards, screened by someone on your staff, and presented to the Meridia operator for him to enter into the presentation. Spotlights the real-time aspect of the Meridia system and makes an impression on the audience members that you are ready to respond to their immediate concerns.
Cross-Tabulations Ask the audience various demographic questions. Then have display the results to subsequent questions, cross-referenced by the demographic groups. For example, if one of your questions deals with management styles, it might be interesting to see how the men responded as opposed to the women, or how one age group differs from another. Adds a new dimension to the displayed results, revealing hidden information.
Speaker / Presentation Evaluations At the end of each presentation, ask the audience to evaluate the speaker, the content, method of presentation, or the usefulness of the information presented. The results can be kept confidential and presented in printed hard copy so an accurate judgment can be made regarding the value of the meeting. Saves your staff hours of time collecting evaluation forms and tabulating the ratings by hand. Increases the response rate vs. paper surveys.
APPLICATION DESCRIPTION BENEFIT
Needs Assessment Use the Meridia keypads to poll the audience for their needs (an excellent application for customer meetings because you discover which products and services are most valuable from your customers' point of view). Achieves a higher response rate and a more accurate assessment of needs vs. paper surveys because the audience is captive, they enjoy using the keypads, and their responses are candid.
Case Studies During your presentation, describe the circumstances surrounding a situation. When you come to a decision-making point, use the Meridia system to ask the audience what they would do next. Once the results are seen, you can comment on the preferred course of action. Provides a dramatic way to introduce new and better methods of operation and refine skills.
Voting / Weighted Voting / Elections The Meridia keypads make an excellent voting device and provide accurate, instant polling information. Weighted voting allows for one keypad to equal any number of votes, supporting people who carry more influence than others while answering. Provides results instantly and more accurately than voice voting and far less time-consuming than counting hands or ballots.
Audience-Driven Agenda Use the Meridia system to get the audience to select what subject they would like to discuss. Gives the audience a real feeling of involvement and is a dramatic way to show that their interests are important. It also ensures that the desired topics are addressed.
APPLICATION DESCRIPTION BENEFIT
Employee Training & Testing Use Meridia's system to track your audience's knowledge level of the training material. Present test questions, then comment on their answers, reinforcing correct answers and describing reasons against the incorrect answers. Get an immediate indication where knowledge weaknesses exist and address the problems on site. This enables trainers to discover and focus on issues that need the most attention.
Build Team Communication Skills Use Meridia's game competition software to provide excitement during the presentation. Dividing the audience into competing teams helps build good communication skills. For a team to win the game, the team members must effectivly communicate with one another. Promotes skills among existing company departments that translate into more effective working relationships.
Qualify Leads Use the Meridia system at your exhibit booth to survey attendees regarding their buying practices, intentions for the upcoming year and their influence over the buying decision. Visitors can be assigned a numbered keypad which can be linked with their name, address, etc. All responses from that keypad can be tracked providing you with valuable information about your prospect. Focus your sales to qualified individuals making the most of your time.
Track Individual Audience Member Responses Each Meridia keypad has a registered number. This enables the system to track responses for each member of your audience, allowing for closer inspection as to how eveyone answered each question. Assists in determining how best to market your product or service to customers.

Meridia offers sponsorship opportunities for meetings that allow access to every person in the audience. Throughout the presentation, the sponsor's logo maintains a highly visible presence.

Your Sponsor's Logo on Every Screen

Whenever the audience is answering questions using our audience response system, the sponsor's logo can appear in the corner of the display. Showing on both question and results displays, the sponsor's logo is visible throughout your event. And, during breaks between question and answer sessions, the main screen display can show a full-screen promotional slide.

Your Sponsor's Logo on Every Keypad

The sponsor also has the ability to put their name and logo right in the hands of the audience. The logo can appear on the audience response keypads that are used to answer the questions.
